In 1981, The DeLorean motor company launched the now iconic DeLorean (DMC-12). The car was futuristic in its look and built; therefore, five years separated its design and the start of production.
Many people will remember the stainless steel car with its doors opening upwards, as if the car had wings and was about to take flight.
Besides the design, the DeLorean was not able to live up to its promise: the engine was slow and the maintenance was demanding
The company filed for bankruptcy the year after the official launch, after producing under 10 000 units. Many rumours and stories surrounding the event were shared in the news.
Nonetheless, the car was featured in the movies “Back to the Future”, making it an icon for many.
