Apple Newton

business, Technology

In the early 1990’s Apple launched a new hand held device that promised to revolutionize the world of e-assistant.  It had everything, or so it seemed: it was touchscreen, had handwriting recognition, could fit in you hand, and so on.

Unfortunately, the product did not live up to the expectations went it launched and, although the problems were fixed later on, Apple did not succeed at reviving the Newton’s reputation.

However, it wasn’t until Steve Job’s return to Apple that the company finally put an end to the Newton.

The Simpsons even featured the faulty technology on an episode, and, funny enough, this was such a success that it is now viewed as the first “auto-correct fail”!
