Episode 33: What Needs To Be Done Needs Done Now

Well, I guess it’s our turn to weigh in on the beauty that is the BP Oil Spill.  Maybe the alcohol content of the Stone Brewing Russian Imperial Stout will help us tackle this disgusting issue.

Hey, speaking of Russians, didn’t they nuke a similar problem?

Episode 30: Our Kentucky Derby Boilermaker

We start with some Wathen’s Kentucky single-barrel bourbon and back it up with a glass of Konig pilsner, all in honor of actually making it to 30 episodes.

A loose conversation of oil slicks, Supreme Court radicalism, music rights, the White Stripes, and Dalton Trumbo ensues.  What we don’t talk about is the Kentucky Derby.  Madness.

Episode 25: More Hope, Beer, and Naked Women

In Episode 24 we took the Obama administration to task for their 1st year performance.  We taped that the day before The State of the Union speech and several days before President Obama’s fascinating Q&A with the Republican Congressional Caucus. It was as if he had heard Episode 24 and was addressing our concerns.  So we listened to what he had to say, and we’re updating our thoughts from the previous episode.  Now, how all that ends up with talk of drinking beer with naked women in front of the fireplace, I have no idea.

Our beer this week:  Imperial Choklat Stout from Southern Tier Brewing in Lakewood, N.Y.

Episode 24: The Supreme Court . . . Ah, Those Guys Are So Funny.

It is the night before Obama’s first State of the Union address and we choose to declare the end of the world as we know it.  Who wouldn’t, what with recent Supreme Court decisions, recent Massachusetts elections, recent Obama policy announcements echoing those of his Presidential rival’s, and a recent and very boring NFL post season, that may show the sport for what it is, 11 minutes of action surrounded by commercials.  I mean, what’s not to rant about?

We drink Blue Moon Brewing’s Full Moon Winter Ale while ranting.

Now, the key statement here is that we taped this the night before the State of the Union.  So, a quick poll:

  1. We were way off base in our assertions
  2. We were correct as usual
  3. Screw polls, polling, and pollsters.

Episode 23: A Preponderance of Suck

Well, as you can tell by the title we spend our time on this show looking back at 2009 and all the things our politicians accomplished.  After a brutal 2008 and sweeping changes in the American leadership we expected a little more from 2009 than what we got.  Was there any upside?  Where’s the change?  Where’s the beef?  Where’s my beer?. . .

. . . here it is.  A Baltic Thunder porter from Victory Brewing in Downington, PA.

Episode 18: And the Nobel Prize for Health Care Reform Goes To . . .

Yup, we’re talking health care again.  The smoke has cleared from this summer’s town hall meetings, and the progressive push for the Public Option is gaining a little strength, and bills are leaving committees.  So it follows somehow that we might just be getting optimistic that the right thing may be done.

Calm down, we said “might.”

The beer for this episode is Loser by Elysian Brewing.  Find one and play along.
